Us
Hamazkayin Armenian Educational
and Cultural Society of Toronto was established in 1970 as a non
profit organization and is affiliated with a network of sister organizations
throughout Canada and the world. It currently operates from the
Armenian Community Centre and The Armenian Youth Center, at 45 &
50 Hallcrown Place Toronto, Ontario.
The Toronto Hamazkayin's mission is:
1- Promote all forms
of art and encourage individual Canadian artists of Armenian heritage,
to create and excel in their chosen artistic fields by providing
a forum for their artistic expressions such as sponsoring and organizing
public performances, art exhibitions, art festivals, publications,
seminars , art classes, workshops, etc..
2 –Sponsor, promote,
and financially assist artistic groups (theatre, choirs, dance,
etc.) to create new artistic works, improve their repertoires, reach
wider audiences by providing professional direction, rehearsal and
performance space.
3- Nurture the talents
and abilities of gifted youth by providing training, counseling,
financial assistance and a platform to develop and launch their
carriers.
4- Act as bridge to introduce
Canadian artists and artistic works to the Canadian Armenian community
and encourage Canadian Armenian artists and their artistic achievements
to be part of the Canadian Artistic scene.
Hamazkayin enjoys the
support of a wide segment of the Canadian Armenian community. It
has an active membership of over 400 individuals. Its elected, volunteer
Board of Directors administer, plan and direct the activities of
the organization.
Hamazkayin employs and
engages various renowned professional artists as art directors,
performers, exhibitors, teachers, etc. nurture and maintain a high
level of artistic standard for all the activities and the many groups
that it promotes, sponsors and organizes.
